PEMBA: Victoria, 1937-1901, AR rupee, KM-X12, Mitch-1470, Pemba in Arabic in a clove-shaped indent; the Clove Islands being an old name for Pemba, bold c/s on a lightly cleaned, but lustrous British Indian rupee dated 1835 of William IV, very scarce type and grade, EF on AU host. Considered a spurious issue. Pemba Island, also known as "The Green Island" in Arabic is an island forming part of the Zanzibar Archipelago, lying off the east coast of Africa in the Indian Ocean.
