QING: Guang Xu, 1875-1908, AE charm (6.02g), CCH-210, fu shou ("happiness and longevity") in seal script, light stain, likely made in Sichuan, VF, ex K.K. Lee Collection, in old American Missionary Church Tithe & Offering Envelope dated 1 July 1923. Empress Dowager Cixi is said to have had these palace charms made to give out on special occasions and important birthdays. She was the de-facto ruler of China from 1861 to 1908.
