This type was specially cast for Kangxi's 60th birthday and is known as the "lohan cash". Lohan (luohan) is the Chinese translation of the Sanskrit word "arhan" meaning "venerable" and was the name applied to images of the eighteen attendants of Buddha frequently arranged along two sides of the principal hall in Buddhist temples.
