QING: Qi Xiang, 1861, AE charm (15.01g), Hua Guangpu p.1740, qi xiang tong bao / tong zhi zhong bao, VF, RRR. The obverse of this charm contains the first "nian hao" (reign title) of Tong Zhi. Very few coins minted with this reign title were produced and none were officially put into circulation. Likely a later Qing Dynasty production as the fabric and metal are consistent with that period. Listed in Zhongguo guqian daji book, volume 4, page 1739. A similar piece sold at Stephen Album Auction 23, Lot 971, for $3750.
