QING: Qian Long, 1736-1795, AE palace cash (7.14g), Board of Revenue mint, Peking, H-22.246A, cast 1774-95, minor rim bumps, VF. Palace cash were introduced in 1752 for use in the Imperial Palace by guards and eunuchs. These were always of high quality brass alloy. They were popularly known as gua deng qian (lamp hanging money) or huang gaizi ('yellow covers').
