QIUCI STATE: Anonymous, 5-6th centuries, AE cash (1.2g), H-10.48, wu zhu, reverse in yet undeciphered Qiuci (Kucha) script, graded 80(05) by GBCA Grading Company, natural flan crack, F-VF, ex Hans Mondorf Collection. Qiuci (often misread as Qiuzi) is the old Chinese transcription for the Tokharian name of the old kingdom of Kucha, a very important state in the middle of the Silk Road from the Han to the Tang dynasty period. It covered roughly the present-day Kucha County of Xinjiang and was under the jurisdiction of the Xiyu Duhufu of the Han Dynasty.
