QIUCI STATE: Anonymous, 5th-6th century, AE cash (1.40g), H-10.49var, wu zhu // reverse in yet undeciphered Qiuci (Kucha) script, apparently unpublished variety with inverted top symbol, Fine. Qiuci (often misread as Qiuzi) is the old Chinese transcription for the Tokharian name of the old kingdom of Kucha, a very important state in the middle of the Silk Road from the Han to the Tang dynasty period. It covered roughly the present-day Kucha County of Xinjiang and was under the jurisdiction of the Xiyu Duhufu of the Han Dynasty.
