Ulpia Marciana was the elder sister of Trajan. Much beloved by her brother and sister-in-law, the later empress Plotina, she was awarded the title Augusta in 105, becoming the first sister of a Roman emperor to receive this honor. She died in 112 and was deified by the senate at Trajan's behest.
