RUSSIAN PROVINCIAL: EAST PRUSSIA: Elizabeth, 1741-1762, AR 6 groschen, 1761, KM-B290, Cr-45, Olding-454, Russian Occupation of Eastern Prussia issue, a lovely example for type! PCGS graded EF45, ex Joe Sedillot Collection. During the Seven Years’ War, the Russian Army initially under the command of Count William Fermor, of Scottish and Lutheran Baltic German descent, captured the East Prussian capital of Königsberg on January 22, 1758. On August 25, 1758 he led his army against Frederick the Great at the Battle of Zorndorf. The battle cost both sides heavy casualties. Russian forces left Königsberg in 1764 after signing the Treaty of Saint Petersburg in 1762.
