SAFAVID: 'Abbas I, 1588-1629, AR bisti, Isfahan, AH1032, A-B2637, mint weak, but date very clear. a high quality example! NGC graded AU53. The denomination bisti derives from the Persian word bist for "twenty", which was a Persian coin fixed at 20 dinars, originally a small silver coin struck occasionally in the 16th and 17th centuries (last used for coins of Tahmasp II, 1722-1732), and later a relatively large copper denomination. The term apparently never actually appears on a coin.
