SALDUQIDS: Diya' al-Din Ghazi, fl. 1116-1132, AE fals (4.17g), NM, ND, A-C1890, St. George slaying the dragon // ruler's laqab in center, citing the Seljuq ruler Mughith al-Din (Mahmud II) in the margin, superb strike, but some corrosion on obverse, EF, RRR. This is the first reported example on which the Seljuq overlord can be read. Since Mahmud II ruled AH511-525 (1118-1131), this type must be reassigned from Diya' al-Din Ayyub to Diya' al-Din Ghazi. Mahmud II was the only Great Seljuq ruler in the western regions to use the laqab Mughith al-Din.
