IMPORTANT NOTE - The Buyer's Premium is now $20 per lot or 20% of the hammer price, whichever amount is greater. However, we have also reduced opening bids on lower value items to adjust for the new Buyer's Premium structure, so all-in costs are still very close to what they were in the past. This change in fee structure will allow us to continue to offer coins valued at less than $100 in addition to our higher value offerings. Contact us with any questions.
SASANIAN IMITATIVE ISSUES: LOT of 4 silver drachms, in the name of Khusro II; includes BYSh (Bishapur) year 26 (4.12g), ART (Ardashir Khurra) year 37 (4.16g), AW (Ahwaz) year 35 (4.10g), and ART (Ardashir Khurra) and year 33 (4.08g), all are in EF-AU condition; retail value $250, lot of 4 pieces. The BYSh and ART examples are struck with the save obverse die. The AW and ART examples are struck with the same obverse die. The combination of different mint names and dates with the same obverse die proves that they must have been struck elsewhere, and likely after the death of Khusro in 628. This phenomenon has been observed for several different such combinations of two different mint names and different dates with the same obverse die.
