SASANIAN KINGDOM: clay bulla (109.24g), Gyselen p.248, ca. 84 x 68 x 27mm, belonging to Chihr-Burzen, the spahbed (army chief) of Khorasan, armored figure on horseback right, holding spear, Pahlavi legend around, a small secondary impression to right, part of the bulla broken off but with the central impression intact, F-VF, ex Dr. Dirk Löer Collection, ex Pars Coins Sale 17, Lot 400. Chihr-Burzen was a power noble man who served in the courts of Khusro I and his son Hormizd IV. He was executed along with thousands of noblemen and clergy by the order of Hormizd sometime between in 580 and 585.
