SAXONY: Johann, 1854-1873, AR 1/6 thaler, 1865, KM-1205, C-261, mint master initial B, a lovely lustrous mint state example! PCGS graded MS63, ex Joe Sedillot Collection. In 1865, Saxony, under King John, sided with Austria amid rising tensions with Prussia over dominance in Germany. The state began preparing for the conflict that would erupt in 1866, eventually fighting alongside Austria in the Austro-Prussian War.
