SCHWARZBURG-SONDERSHAUSEN: Günther Friedrich Karl II, 1835-1880, AE pfennig, 1846-A, KM-142, C-18, a superb lustrous caramel red brown mint state example! PCGS graded MS65 RB, ex Joe Sedillot Collection. In 1846, Schwarzburg-Sondershausen was a quiet, conservative principality under Prince Günther Friedrich Carl II, experiencing the same pre-revolutionary tensions affecting much of Germany. While no major events occurred, the state was on the brink of the broader upheavals that would arrive with the 1848 revolutions.
