SCHWARZBURG-SONDERSHAUSEN: Günther Friedrich Karl II, 1835-1880, AR groschen, 1858-A, KM-145, C-21, Jaeger-12, a superb lustrous mint state example! PCGS graded MS65, ex Joe Sedillot Collection. In 1858, growing public pressure following the 1848 revolutions led Prince Günther Friedrich Carl II of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen to begin constitutional reforms. These efforts culminated in a new constitution in 1859, transitioning the state from absolutism to a limited constitutional monarchy with greater citizen representation. The reforms were part of a broader liberal shift across German states, influenced by Prussia's "New Era" under Prince Regent Wilhelm.
