SELEUKID KINGDOM: Seleukos I & Antiochos I, 294-281 BC, AR drachm (3.31g), uncertain Far Eastern mint, SC-255, Alexandrine type in the name of Antiochos I, head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin headdress // Zeus Nikephoros seated left, anchor with upward flukes and small loop to left, monogram below throne, bold obverse in high relief, some cleaning scratches, minor edge delamination, VF, RRR. Houghton & Lorber cites only one example in Houghton's collection and suggests a Bactrian origin. We cannot find any examples of this type in auction archives.
