SELEUKID KINGDOM: Seleukos II Kallinikos, 246-226 BC, AR tetradrachm (17.10g), Alexandria in Aria (Artacoana), SC-830var, diademed head right // Apollo standing left, holding arrow and resting elbow on tripod, monogram to lower outer left, another one to outer right, unpublished variety, struck with a somewhat worn obverse die, attractive bold reverse, very rare, Choice VF. Seleukid coinage ended in Aria when the province fell to the Diodoti of the newly independent Greco-Bactrian kingdom. Hence, coins in the name Seleukos II were likely issued for a brief period at the beginning of his reign.
