SELJUQ OF WESTERN IRAN: Mahmud II, 1118-1131, AV dinar (3.01g), al-Mu'askar, AH517, A-1688, al-Mu'askar, which means "military camp", was an itinerant court mint, known only from a few extremely rare Great Seljuq dinars; clear mint, date slightly weak but certain, VF, RRR. The only examples of al-Mu'askar are dinars dated AH464 and 512 in the Tübingen Collection (the 512 dinar shares the same reverse die as a dinar of Hamadan). The only "example" on CoinArchives, offered in the St. James Auction 83, lot 81, is the relatively common AH517 dinar of Madinat al-Salam. clear in the illustration. No examples on Zeno.
