SEMIRECH'E: Kai Yuan Imitation, 8th century, AE cash (3.59g), H-4.1, Zeno-36770, kai yuan tong bao, plain reverse with rounded central hole, Fine. Found near Krasnaya Rechka, a village in the Chüy Region of Kyrgyzstan, just east of Kant. Nearby is the ruined Sogdian silk road settlement of Navekat ('new town'). It was active between the 6th and 12th centuries and was the largest town in the valley at the time. Buddhist, Nestorian, Manichaean, Chinese and Sanskrit remains have been found.
