IMPORTANT NOTE - The Buyer's Premium is now $20 per lot or 20% of the hammer price, whichever amount is greater. However, we have also reduced opening bids on lower value items to adjust for the new Buyer's Premium structure, so all-in costs are still very close to what they were in the past. This change in fee structure will allow us to continue to offer coins valued at less than $100 in addition to our higher value offerings. Contact us with any questions.
SEMIRECH'E: Wahshutawa, 8th century, AE cash (3.76g), Kamyshev-21, xst'w w'xswt'wy pny ("coin of King Wahshutawa") // semi-circular Turgesh tamgha with one Runic letter R and Chinese yuan, pleasing VF, R. There are two distinct types of Wahshutawa (Vahshugava): Kam-21 with Chinese "yuan" on the reverse (average weight 3.5g, about 23mm) and Kam-36 with Sogdian "prn" (glory) instead of the Chinese "yuan" (average weight 1.8g, about 16mm). The relationship between the two types is unknown. At present there are about 20 pieces of the "yuan" type in online auction archives, none of the "prn" type!
