SHANGHAI: 5 cents token (4.55g), ND (ca. 1945-50), Pan Junxiang--, TC--, 21mm, large 5¢ in center circle, AMERICAN CONSULATE GENERAL / COFFEE BAR // same design on reverse, lightly polished, extremely rare, XF. According to the consignor, this token was used at the American Consulate General in Shanghai between the end of WWII and the withdrawal of US diplomatic staff from mainland China in 1950. It was one of ten pieces found in the estate of a Shanghainese woman who once worked at the American Consulate General, located in the Glen Line Building on the Bund at the intersection of today's Zhongshan East Road and Beijing East Road.
