SHANGHAI: CuNi store token, ca. 1895, Pridmore-327, H&S-D1-2, for 1 loaf of bread, HALL AND HOLTZ Ltd. ONE LOAF SHANGHAI with 3292 stamped above // fúlì above, yi gè miàn bao (one loaf of bread) in Chinese, round hole in center, NGC graded AU50. Established in 1848 by Englishmen Edward Hall and Andrew Holtz, Hall & Holtz Ltd. (Fuli Gongsi in Chinese) began operation in Shanghai in 1855. It operated a department store at the corner of Nanking Road and Szechuan Road in the International Settlement, which survives to this day as Ci'anli Building (East Nanjing Road #114).
