SINKIANG: Galdan Cheren, 1727-1745, AE pul (8.75g), Yarkand, Cr-36-7.1, XN-177, 180, VF. Issue of the Dzungar Khanate (Jungarian Khanate). In 1755, the Manchus took advantage of a Dzungar civil war to conquer Dzungaria and destroyed the Dzungars as a people. The destruction of the Dzungars led to the Qing conquest of Mongolia, Tibet, and the creation of Xinjiang as a political administrative unit. A great number of these copper pul were melted down after the Qing conquest to cast the new Qian Long "red cash" types. For correct attributions, see the short description of the types of the Dzungar Khanate by V.A.
