SPAIN: Civil War, 2 pesetas, 1937, KM-3, Cal-10, Asturias y León issue, a wonderful lustrous example! PCGS graded MS64. The Sovereign Council of Asturias and León was an unrecognized state in northern Spain during the Spanish Civil War. It was proclaimed on 6 September 1936, and was self-declared as a sovereign state on 24 August 1937, while the region was occupied on 20 October 1937 by Franco's military forces. The capital of the short-lived state was Gijón.
