IMPORTANT NOTE - The Buyer's Premium is now $20 per lot or 20% of the hammer price, whichever amount is greater. However, we have also reduced opening bids on lower value items to adjust for the new Buyer's Premium structure, so all-in costs are still very close to what they were in the past. This change in fee structure will allow us to continue to offer coins valued at less than $100 in addition to our higher value offerings. Contact us with any questions.
SPAIN: Francisco Franco, Caudillo, 1947-1975, 5 pesetas, 1957 (1958), KM-40, First Ibero-American Exhibition of Numismatics and Medals commemorativeIssuers Spain, PCGS graded MS64. The First Ibero-American Exhibition of Numismatics and Medals (I Exposición Iberoamericana de Numismática y Medallística) took place in the city of Barcelona, Spain, between 25 November and 14 December 1958. To commemorate this, the National Mint and Stamp Factory moved three coining machines to the former Grand Royal Palace of Barcelona, which manufactured the new 5, 25 and 50 pesetas coins made of copper-nickel with special die in full view of the public. On these dies, the six-pointed star mint mark of the National Mint and Stamp Factory on the reverse was replaced by the capital letters "BA", the symbol of the old Barcelona mint when the House of Habsburg ruled Spain.
