SUNGA DYNASTY: LOT of 25 square punchmarked copper coins, various types, weights from about 0.55g to just over 3.00g; with the following types: (1) Ujjain region (10 pcs), mostly the smaller weights, many with the sun on the obverse, blank reverse (2) Vidarbha region (3 pcs), also blank reverse (3) Taxila region (2 pcs), also uniface (4) socalled 1/4 vishmatika with designs on both sides (4 pcs); and (5) uncertain issues assigned to Central India by the consignor (fair to Good coodition) (6 pcs); the other groups average VG to Fine condition, a few quite attractove; all with Todd's description; retail value $450, lot of 25 pieces, ex Ian Todd Collection. Most of the given attributions are no longer the standard, and it would be left to the buyer to reassign them according to Pieper's newest publication on the coins of Ancient India.
