SWEDEN: AE plaque (95.27g), 1945, 46x70mm uniface bronze plaque for the 60th Anniversary of the Construction of the Halmstadt-Nässjö Railway Line, by Leo Holmgren, winged personifiction of Speed to right with three shields and "1885-1945" in left field and map of railways in right field, train below, and HALMSTAD NÄSSJO JÄRNVAGAR in exergue, rare, in original (broken) box, "BRONS - 1945" on edge, Unc. Nässjö, located in the historical province of Småland, did not receive its municipal charter until 1914. The town's development was inextricably linked to its railway connections. Today, Nässjö is the only city in Sweden where six railway lines converge. Not surprisingly, one of Nässjö’s major attractions is a railway museum (the Nässjö Järnvägsmuseum). In this context, the railway line built in 1885—connecting the coastal city of Halmstadt (in the province of Halland) with Nässjö—represented a pivotal step in the city's rise to prominence.
