Küchler, draped and armored bust right with GUSTAVUS III D G REX SVECIAE around // urn with garland on altar with cherub at left and Fortune to right holding wreath towards the heavens with military and musical instruments behind and TAM MARTE - QUAM MERCURIO around and NATUS D XXIIII JAN MDCCXXXVI / SUCC D XII FEB MDCCLXXI / TRUCID D SVI MART MDCCXCII / OB D XXIX SUP MENS ET AN in exergue, a few faint hairline scratches, chocolate-brown color, plain edge, Choice AU. Gustav III had not been popular with the Swedish nobility since the coup d'état that brought him to power in 1772. He was stabbed by a conspirator while attending a masked ball at the Royal Opera House. The initial wound did not kill him, but it became infected and he died 13 days later.
