IMPORTANT NOTE - The Buyer's Premium is now $20 per lot or 20% of the hammer price, whichever amount is greater. However, we have also reduced opening bids on lower value items to adjust for the new Buyer's Premium structure, so all-in costs are still very close to what they were in the past. This change in fee structure will allow us to continue to offer coins valued at less than $100 in addition to our higher value offerings. Contact us with any questions.
SYRIA: Islamic State, AR 2 dirhams, AH1437, denomination in center, al-dawlah al-islâmiyyah / khilâfatun 'alâ minhâji al-nabuwwah ("Islamic State / a caliphate upon the model of the Prophethood") in the margin, and "6 grams / 99.9 silver" across field // al-masjid al-aqsâ ("al-Aqsa Mosque") and view of the mosque, date above, all within ornamental border, lustrous, Unc. The Islamic State gold dinar was the de-jure currency of the Islamic State from 2014 to 2019. It is also subdivided into silver dirhams and copper fulûs, and it has its origins in the historical gold dinar. In 2016 (AH1438), one gold dinar was exchanged for 190 U.S. dollars or 91 British pounds. A series of coins made up of gold 5, 2, and 1 dinar, silver 5, 2, and 1 dirham, and copper 25, 10 and 5 fulûs were released as such. Despite the extensive promotion of the Islamic State in this coinage series, the currency only saw limited circulation in areas under their control.
