TAHIRID: Muhammad b. Tahir II, 862-873, AR dirham (3.20g), Nishapur, AH271, A-1395N, Alaedini p.64 (same dies), citing the ruler only as Muhammad, with religious texts filling the obverse and reverse, also with the caliph al-Mu'tamid; with the phrases bi'l-tawfiq wa'l-tasdid // bi'l-sanâ' wa'l-bahâ' divided between obverse & reverse; about 15% flat and pierced, but the first example to be offered at any auction, F-VF, RRR. It is likely that this was an emergency issue by opponents against Rafi' b. Harthama (listed by Alaedini as Tahirid, which seems historically correct).
