IMPORTANT NOTE - The Buyer's Premium is now $20 per lot or 20% of the hammer price, whichever amount is greater. However, we have also reduced opening bids on lower value items to adjust for the new Buyer's Premium structure, so all-in costs are still very close to what they were in the past. This change in fee structure will allow us to continue to offer coins valued at less than $100 in addition to our higher value offerings. Contact us with any questions.
TANG: Qian Feng, 649-683, AE cash (4.8g), H-14.100, qián feng quán bao, graded 85 by GBCA Grading Company, XF, ex Dr. Dirk Löer Collection, ex Beijing Poly international Auction, Item 1124. This type was cast by the Emperor Gao Zong in the year 666. In an attempt to overcome a shortage of copper, one of the "qian feng" coins was to be equivalent to ten old coins, although its weight of 2.4 zhu was the same as a one cash coin. This led to extensive forgery, and the coin was withdrawn after a year.
