TATAR-GENOESE: Anepigraphic, ca. 1360, AE follaro (0.73g), [Enisala], ND, Zeno-98575, castle gate // cross, uninscribed, nicely preserved example, F-VF, RRR. Enisala (Turkish "yenisale ") was located on the Danube River near Isaccea (Saqci) in Romania, and was under Genoese control until seized by the Ottoman Turks around 1400. The coins of Enisala are extremely rare, and have been found at the sites of Enisala and nearby Chilla, but not at Isaccea. A similar specimen sold in the Asta auction XXXII, 10 April 2011, Lot 237, for €1500 (about $1980) plus buyer's fee.
