TENASSERIM-PEGU: Anonymous, 17th/18th century, cast large tin coin (40.01g), Robinson, 72mm; the mekkara (mythical fish) right, elegantly engraved // 3-line Burmese legend (different from all previously published types), thin flan crack, 6th example we have handled, cast from molds still in good condition, choice EF, RRRR. The type was unknown to Robinson, and was not published by Than Htun, as the 17th/18th century coinage of Tenasserim was not included in his valuable publication, "Auspicious Symbols and Ancient Coins of Myanmar", published in Yangon in 2007. We have already handled four examples in our Auctions 39 to 45.
