TENASSERIM-PEGU: Anonymous, 17th-18th century, cast large tin coin (67.04g), Robinson-20var (Plate 9.1), 64mm, knotted dragon right with protruding pointed tongue, no symbols in the field // 3-line Burmese legend, very coarsely engraved in the reverse mold, minimal weakness, as though cast with a worn reverse mold, two natural casting flaws, VF, RR. Same casting molds as Lot 995 in our Auction 33. Coins of this type, where the dragon rather resembles a snake, typically weigh in the 55g-75g range, and were found in the Perak hoard, noted by Robinson, pp. 56-58.
