TENASSERIM-PEGU: Anonymous, 17th-18th century, cast large tin coin (69.42g), Robinson-20var (Plate 9.1), 69mm, knotted dragon right with long protruding pointed tongue, 4 tiny dots below the dragon // 3-line Burmese legend, superb example, same master mold as Lot 1857 in this auction, choice VF-EF, RR. Similar to Lots 997-1000 in our Auction 33, but different master mold. Coins of this type, where the dragon rather resembles a snake, typically weigh in the 55g-75g range, and were found in the Perak hoard, noted by Robinson, pp. 56-58.
