THAILAND:LOT of 6 coins, silver "bullet money" ( pod duang ) type 1824-1860, set of 6 different denominations, Rama III AR baht, Rama IV AR ½ baht, Rama III AR ¼ baht, Rama IV AR 1/8 baht, Rama III AR 1/16 baht, Rama IV AR 1/32 baht, average circulated quality, retail value $150, lot of 6 coins. Standardized Pod Duang money was used during the Sukhothai, Ayutthaya,Thon Buri and Rattanakosin periods. In the reign of King Mongkut, the country was opened for commerce and trade with the West. Because of the increasing demand for currency in circulation due to the rapid expansion of foreign trade, King Mongkut ordered the modern machines to mint flat coins instead of Pod Duang.
