TIMURID: Badi' al-Zaman, 1506-1508, AR 3 tankas (4.64g), Langar, ND, A-2445, countermarked beh bud seh tanka langar (lovely ef) on a standard tanka of Sultan Husayn, mint & date obliterated (A-2432.3), with an earlier countermark of Sultan Husayn, mint of Herat (about fine, A-2439), RRR. Langar was a minor community not far from Herat, described in the contemporary chronicle of Hafiz-i Abru. The countermarked denomination "three tanka" reflects the rapid inflation that was devaluing the tanka almost every year, sometimes more frequently.
