TIMURID: Muhammad Humayun, 1530-1556, AR shahrukhi (3.71g), Qandahar, DM, A-E2464, citing the Safavid ruler Tahmasp II, some weakness as always, About Very Fine, RRR. After loosing his power in India to Sher Shah, the sultan of Delhi, Humayun, himself a Sunni, sought military assistance from the Shi'ite Safavid ruler of Iran, Tahmasp II, in hopes of re-establishing his base in what is now Afghanistan and ultimately reconquering northern India. In exchange, he ordered that his own coinage also include the name of Tahmasp. This attempt lasted only a few months, in AH950-951.
