IMPORTANT NOTE - The Buyer's Premium is now $20 per lot or 20% of the hammer price, whichever amount is greater. However, we have also reduced opening bids on lower value items to adjust for the new Buyer's Premium structure, so all-in costs are still very close to what they were in the past. This change in fee structure will allow us to continue to offer coins valued at less than $100 in addition to our higher value offerings. Contact us with any questions.
TIMURID: Sultan Husayn, 1469-1506, AR yek tankcheh (sic) (4.56g), Herat, ND, A-A2440.2-var, countermarked 'adl yek tankcheh herat on what is almost certainly an Aq Qoyunlu tanka of Ya'qub (ruled AH883-896), appears to be an unpublished variety, bold VF on largely obliterated host; unpublished and apparently unique, RRR. The Timurid tanka with Sultan Husayn started at 5.15g, reduced at Astarabad to 4.78g in AH892, then at Herat in 895. The nickname "tankcheh" ("little tanka") refers to the weight reduction, probably in 895 before the revised design dies were available. The weight reduction was adopted at all mints in 896.
