TRAVANCORE: Bala Rama Varma, 1798-1810, AR 1/2 chuckram (0.19g), ND (1809-10), KM-7, stylized Shanku (conch shell) within a circle of dots // Sudarshana chakram (spinning discus used by the Hindu God Vishnu), within a circle of dots, PCGS graded EF40. Avittam Thirunal Bala Rama Varma was the ruler of the Indian princely state of Travancore from 1798 to 1810, succeeding his uncle Karthika Thirunal Rama Varma (Dharma Raja) on 12 February 1798. His reign was a time of disturbances and internal and external problems. The revolt of Velu Thampi (who as Dewan negotiated the formal alliance between Travancore and the British East India Company) occurred during his rule. This is a very rare denomination and from a small group of 21 coins.
