TRIPOLI: Selim III, 1789-1807, AR 10 para (2.92g), Tarabulus Gharb, AH1210, KM-61, with two-petal flower instead of regnal year above the reverse, with an additional 3-petal flower left & right of the date, bold strike with lightly clashed dies, PCGS graded AU55. The issues dated AH1210, although still citing the Ottoman sultan Selim, are believed related to the brief uprising at Tarabulus Gharb by Ahmad II, who held his power for about one year, until overthrown by the Ottoman governor 'Ali Qaramanli, probably in 1211. The 1203 year 10 issues would then be assigned to 'Ali Qaramanli, thus regular issues of Selim III, for whom he held the governorship.
