TUNIS: Mahmud II, 1808-1839, AE token (3.49g), "Tunis", AH"1255", imitation of KM-90, later machine-struck imitation, probably struck in France shortly after 1839, which corresponds to AH1255, bold EF to About Unc, RRR. This piece appears to be a French imitation designed to reflect the quality that the Paris mint could offer, if later Tunisian issues were produced at Paris, as did happen some 15 years later.
