TURKEY: Abdul Hamid II, 1876-1909, AR 2 kurush, AH1293 year 1, KM-719, the rarest circulating silver or base-metal type of the entire reform coinage, 1845-1923; despite the reported mintage of 10,000, only at most a couple dozen examples are known, AG, RR. The only example on CoinArchives was in XF details condition and sold for $5974 (Monedalia eAuction 11, lot 532, in 2024). Stephen Album acquired his example in Erzincan in 1969, from a local antiques dealer who knew the rarity and charged the equivalent of about $2, when a normal 2 kurush coin would sell for much less than $1! Album sold off his Ottoman collection before 1980.
