TURKEY: Ahmad II, 1691-1695, AR akçe (0.13g), Kostantiniye, AH(110)2, KM-105, nice strike, very clear obverse, al-sultan ahmad (bin) ibrahim, legible mint name, about 20% flat strike (as virtually always), Very Fine, RRR. Although the old-fashioned crudely struck akçe was struck under Süleyman II and the next 3 sultans (accession years AH1099, 1102, 1106 & 1115), they must have been produced in minimal quantities, of which very few have survived. They were inevitably badly struck, often 50% flat or worse. No wonder Ahmad III introduced well-struck minuscule akçes (KM-135, also dated AH1115) to replace the horrible previous akçes.
