UMAYYAD: AE fals (2.58g), Suq al-Ahwaz, AH103, A-D205, citing Mardanshah, who was known to have been dihqan (governor) of al-Ahwaz at some time before AH100 (according to Baladhuri), slight porosity on the obverse; unpublished and unique, Fine, RRR. Legends "bism Allah / wali al-amir / kulluhu ja'iz" // "mimma duriba bi-su- / 'q al-ahwaz bi-amara bihi / mardahshah sanat / thalath wa mi'a". It is possibly that the dihqan Mardanshah was related to the Mardanshah cited on Hunnic tribal coins struck circa 680-720 (AH60-100) (Göbl-244).
