UMAYYAD: AE fals (3.38g), 'Asqalan, A-167, W-P.139, struck on planchet cut from a larger obsolete coin, Fine, RR. 'Asqalan is now the Israeli city of Ashkelon. The mint was in operation briefly during the post-reform Umayyad period for copper coins only, then again in the early 12th century for some exceedingly rare Fatimid gold dinars.
