UMAYYAD: Marwan II, 744-750, AR dirham (2.57g), Ifriqiya, AH134, A-142P, Klat-, posthumous issue, struck under the authority of 'Abd al-Rahman b. Habib al-Fihri, chipped at 3 places, nice strike with boldly clear mint & date, VF, RRRR. 'Abd al-Rahman b. Habib was Umayyad governor in Ifriqiya since 127, reconfirmed by the 'Abbasid caliph al-Saffah in 132, but quickly switched his allegiance to the Umayyads, fleeing to Spain in 137, where he was killed by his brother Ilyas. His Ifriqiya dirhams are dated 133 and 134, both of the highest rarity.
