UMAYYAD: Marwan II, 744-750, AR dirham (2.98g), Ifriqiya, AH133, A-142P, Klat-, posthumous issue, probably the 2nd known example (first sold at M&E Auction 79, lot 33), struck under the authority of 'Abd al-Rahman b. Habib al-Fihri, VF-XF, RRRR. 'Abd al-Rahman b. Habib was Umayyad governor in Ifriqiya since 127, reconfirmed by the 'Abbasid caliph al-Saffah in 132, but quickly switched his allegiance to the Umayyads, fleeing to Spain in 137, where he was killed by his brother Ilyas. His dirhams are dated 133 and 134, both of the highest rarity.
