LOUIS 1904 below, R. Official Souvenir medals were struck at the United States Mint Exhibit on the fair grounds. They were designed by George Morgan and his initial M appears at the base of Jefferson’s shoulder. Morgan was later the Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint, and is most famous for designing the Morgan dollar. A lesser example sold in Heritage Tokens & Medals Signature Auction 1235, Lot 98735 in MS-66 for $822.
